'The Baptism of Jesus by St John the Baptist', c1334. St John and Jesus, with his hand lifted in blessing with three fingers raised, symbolising the Holy Trinity of God the Father whose hand points down from the clouds, God the Holy Spirit represented by the Dove, and God the Son, Jesus. From an Armenian Evangelistery, a book containing parts of the Christian Gospels which was used during the liturgy.
