'Bravo! A caricature of musical evenings', 1799. Organized by the Spanish Prime Minister, Manuel de Godoy (1767-1851), for King Charles IV of Spain, Plate 38 of 'Los caprichos'. Los Caprichos were published in 1799 at a time of social repression and economic crisis in Spain The series is evidence of the artist's political liberalism and revulsion towards ignorance and intellectual oppression.
