Funeral of Lajos Kossuth, Budapest, 21st March 1894. Lajos 'Louis' Kossuth (1802-1894) was a Hungarian lawyer, politician who became Regent-President of the Kingdom of Hungary in 1849 as it sought to establish its independence from Austria. With Russian support the Austrians invaded and Kossuth was forced to flee into exile. An illustration from Le Petit Journal, 9th April 1894.
