Sir William MacCormac Bart, Irish surgeon, (1903). MacCormac (1836-1901) worked with the Anglo-American ambulance during the Franco-Prussian War and was an authority on gunshot wounds. In 1897 he was appointed surgeon in ordinary to the Prince of Wales before serving as a volunteer surgeon to the British forces in South Africa in the Boer War.
