Sir William Milbourne James, Lord Justice of the Court of Appeal, 1880. He held the various posts of junior counsel to the treasury in equity, junior counsel to the woods and forests department, the inland revenue, and the board of works. In 1853 he became a member of the queen's counsel. In 1869 he was made a knight. In 1870 he was appointed lord justice of appeal and a privy councillor.
