Major-General Lord Chelmsford, British soldier, 1882. Frederick Augustus Thesiger (1827-1905), 2nd Baron Chelmsford, was commander of the British forces that suffered a disastrous defeat by the Zulus at the Battle of Isandhlwana in 1879.
