Robert Lowe (1811-1892), British politician. First elected to Parliament as the Liberal MP for Kidderminster in 1852, Lowe served as Chancellor of the Exchequer and then Home Secretary in the Gladstone administration of 1868-1874. When the Liberals returned to power in 1880 he was raised to the Lords as Viscount Sherbrooke, but by then suffering from failing eyesight, rarely intervened in debates.
