The widow of the Black Prince appealing to Wat Tyler for protection from the mob. Wat Tyler (1360-1381) was the leader of the Peasant's Revolt, a rebellion that marked the beginning of the end of serfdom in medieval England. It led to calls for the reform of feudalism and an increase in rights for the serf class. From Cassell's Illustrated History of England.
