'The famous colonnade in the great Temple at Karnak, Thebes, Egypt', 1905. 'There are in all 132 of these columns, built of drum-shaped sections and arranged in sixteen rows. It is sixty-five feet up to the top of those spreading capitals, and it would take six men with outstretched arms to span one of the sculptured shafts.
