Levens Hall, Cumbria, c1880. Much of the house dates from Elizabethan times, with 17th and early 19th century additions. The famous topiary garden was begun in 1694. Wood-engraved plates after paintings by Benjamin Fawcett and Alexander Francis Lydon.
