Inauguration of Jefferson Davis, Montgomery, Alabama, 1861 (c1880). Davis was named Provisional President of the Confederate States of America by a Constitutional convention in Montgomery, Alabama, on 9th February 1861. He was inaugurated on the steps of the Alabama State Capitol nine days later.
