Twisted columns in the cloister, Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls, Rome, Italy. The Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura is one of the four great ancient basilicas of Rome. It was founded during the reign of the Emperor Constantine in the 4th century. The cloister was built between 1220 and 1241. The basilica had to be rebuilt in the 19th century after it was almost completely destroyed by a fire in 1823. Stereoscopic card detail.
