The procession of the Mahmal, Cairo, Egypt. The Mahmal was a pyramid of richly embroidered fabric over a wooden frame carried by a camel. It led the annual procession from the citadel of Cairo that carried a carpet or fabric covering to be laid on the Kaaba at Mecca during the Hajj.
