Lord Cornwallis and Joseph Bonaparte embrace in Amiens, France, 1802 (1882-1884). Charles Cornwallis, 1st Marquess Cornwallis (1738-1805) was a British colonial administrator and soldier, best remembered as one of the leading British generals of the American War of Independence.
