British Prime Minister Herbert Asquith visiting Ireland, 1914 (1951). Asquith visiting Ireland during the trouble over Irish Home Rule. He had brought in the Irish Home Rule Bill in 1912, but vociferous opposition to the bill from Protestants in the six counties of Ulster brought Ireland to the brink of civil war. A print from 100 Years in Pictures, A panorama of History in the Making, text by DC Somervell, Odhams press Limited, London, 1951.
