Court of the Lions, the Alhambra, Granada, Andalusia, Spain, c1924. The palace of the Moorish kings of Granada, the Alhambra is a masterpiece of Islamic architecture. The majority of the palace was built between 1248 and 1354. The Court of the Lions is a rectangular courtyard at the centre of which is a fountain consisting of an alabaster basin supported by twelve marble lions.
