Admiral de Winter resigning his sword on board the 'Venerable', 11 October 1797 (c1857). Admiral Jan Willem De Winter (1761-1812), commander of the Dutch fleet, surrendering on board HMS 'Venerable', flagship of Adam Duncan (1731-1804), Viscount Duncan of Camperdown, after the Battle of Camperdown, fought off the Dutch coast. From England's Battles by Sea and Land, volume I, by Lieutenant Colonel William Freke Williams, published by the London Printing and Publishing Company, 1857.
