Colonel Nicholas R Tomlinson of the 18th (Royal Irish) Regiment of Foot was killed in an attack on Zhapu in the First Opium War. From England's Battles by Sea and Land, volume VI, by Lieutenant Colonel William Freke Williams, published by the London Printing and Publishing Company, 1857.
