'The first battle between John Gully and Bob Gregson', 1807 (late 19th or early 20th century. An illustration from Famous Fights. John Gully (1783-1863) fought Bob Gregson twice for the English heavyweight championship, defeating him both times. After retiring from boxing in 1808 Gully went on to become a successful racehorse owner and an MP.
