General view of ruins, Philae, Egypt, c1890. The temple complex on the island of Philae in the Nile was begun in the 4th century BC. After suffering damage caused by raised floodwaters after the building of the Aswan Dam, the buildings were dismantled and rebuilt on another nearby island in the 1970s. Lantern slide.
