Juan Clemente Zenea. Poet born in Bayamo in 1838. In Mexico and the United States, published 'songs of the afternoon' (1860). He had separatist ideas. Arrived in Cuba in November 1870 with a commission of the Spanish Government, which considered him a traitor,he was inprisoned and after 8 months of confinement he was shot on 25 August 1871.
