'Headland Hotel and Golf Links, Newquay', c1910. The Headland Hotel, Newquay, Cornwall, opened in June 1900. The Headland Hotel was designed by the Cornish architect Silvanus Trevail (1851-1903). In 1911, Edward, Prince of Wales, and his brother Prince Albert recuperated at the hotel after catching measles and mumps while studying at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. The hotel is the setting of an adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel The Witches and was renamed Hotel Excelsior for the film in 1990. [Valentine & Sons Ltd, Dundee And London, c1910]
