'Sir Thomas Stood Before The Mogul', c1908, (c1920). Thomas Roe (1581-1644), English diplomat of the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods. Thomas Roe was the first ambassador from Great Britain to India, from 1615-1618 Roe remained at the court of the Great Mogul, Jahangir, in Agra, India. Nur-ud-din Mohammad Salim, Jahangir conqueror of the world (1569-1627) was the fourth Mughal Emperor who ruled from 1605-1627.
