Tyburn Turnpike, Westminster, London, 1820 (1878). A view of Tyburn Turnpike showing the toll house and a toll being collected from a horseman near the gatepost. Tyburn in earlier times was a place of public execution. The turnpike was situated at what is now the junction of Oxford Street and Bayswater Road, where Marble Arch stands today. From Old and New London Illustrated, Vol IV, by Edward Walford. [Cassell Petter & Galpin, London, Paris & New York, 1878]
