'The Crowning of the King', 1937. The Archbishop Placing the Crown of St. Edward on His Majesty's Head. King George ascended the throne upon the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII, on 11th December 1936. Edward's coronation had been planned for 12th May 1937 his brother and sister-in-law's coronation kept to this date. From The Illustrated London News, Volume 190.
