'The Queen's visit to Ireland: Presentation of the Address and Casket to Her Majesty by the members of the Dublin Corporation on her entry to the City on Wednesday, April 4th', 1900. By April 1900, the Boer War was so unpopular in mainland Europe that Queen Victoria's trip to France seemed inadvisable. Instead, the Queen went to Ireland for the first time since 1861, in part to acknowledge the contribution of Irish regiments to the South African war. From Black & White Budget, Vol. III.
