'Bonaparte Closing The Panthéon Club', 1796, (1896). French revolutionary political club, its official name was Union of Friends of the Republic (Réunion des Amis de la République). Fearing that the club might disturb law and public order and even its own legitimacy, the Directory ordered its dissolution, and on 27 February 1796 the Général Bonaparte, commanding the Army of the Interior, carried out the orders. Typogravure after the aquarelle by F De Myrbach, 'from data furnished to the artist by Frédéric Masson'. From Life of Napoleon Bonaparte, Volume I, by William Milligan Sloane.
