Paul Kruger (1825-1904), President of the South African Republic, appealing to Afrikaans citizens of the Republic to stay and fight the British. Scene from the Second Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902) fought in what is now South Africa, between Great Britain and the independent Boer republics of the Orange Free State and the South African Republic (known as as the Transvaal by the British).
