'Dolly's Coffee House', 1897. Dolly's Tavern near Paternoster Row in the City of London, said to have been named after Dolly, an old cook of the establishment, whose portrait Gainsborough painted. The coffee-room, featuring projecting fireplaces, dates from the reign of Queen Anne (1702-1707). From Old and New London, Volume I, by Walter Thornbury.
