'Porch of St. Sepulchre's Church', c1872. In medieval times the church of St Sepulchre-without-Newgate stood just outside ('without') the now-demolished old city wall, near the Newgate in the City of London. It was rebuilt in the 15th century, was seriously damaged by the Great Fire of London in 1666, modified in the 18th century, and underwent extensive restoration in 1878.
