'York Place', (1881). Map of a part of Westminster in London, showing York Place, Scotland Yard, the Eleanor Cross, The Strand and the River Thames. York Place, dating from 1240, was the London residence of the Archbishop of York. King Henry VIII acquired it to replace Westminster as his main London residence, and York Place became the Palace of Whitehall.
