Thomas Pope (c1507-1559), founder of Trinity College, Oxford, bought the site, demolished the abbey and built a house on the land. Neither the house nor the Abbey were still standing in the 19th century. From Old and New London: A Narrative of Its History, Its People, And Its Places.
