'The Painted Hall, Greenwich Hospital', (c1878). Visitors in the Hall, the ceiling and end wall of which were painted between 1707-1726 by Sir James Thornhill. Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, (now part of greater London), was a home for retired Royal Navy sailors from 1692 to 1869. The buildings were later used by the Royal Naval College.
