'Peterborough House', (c1878). View of Peterborough House in Fulham, (now part of south-west London). The house (originally called Brightwells, or Rightwells), was remodelled and rebuilt in the early Stuart style. Charles, 3rd Earl of Peterborough and Monmouth, 'was visited at Peterborough House by all the wits and literati of his time, including Pope, Swift, Locke, and many others'.
