'Tivoli Corner, Sir John Soane's Masterpiece at the Bank of England', c1935. The Bank of England in the City of London was enlarged by Sir John Soane in 1788. In the 1930s, a walkway was cut through 'Tivoli Corner' to allow pedestrians to get around the corner without walking in the road. From "Wonderful London, Volume 2", edited by Arthur St John Adcock.
