The opening of the Nottingham Arboretum, Nottinghamshire, May 1852. Showing the arboretum as it looked when it was newly built. Looking from the refreshments rooms at the top of the arboretum near Forest Road and showing the Waverley Street entrance lodge to the arboretum in the centre right, looking towards the city centre. The arboretum was opened to the public on 11th May 1852. It comprised seventeen acres, and included a landscape, an aviary, a people's park, and an ornamental garden.
