Old Absinthe House, 234 Bourbon Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, 1940. Postcard. Exterior view of the building showing its green shutters and iron balconies. Built in 1806, this building housed a bar popular with celebrities, who came to it do drink the spirit absinthe. It was closed at the beginning of the Prohibition era, but in 2004 the original bar and fittings, which had been hidden to prevent their destruction, were restored to the building.
