Monticello, Home of Thomas Jefferson, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, 1941. Postcard. View showing the exterior of the red brick building with a columned portico and dome. A pool is visible in the foreground and some of the grounds are also visible. Jefferson, the principal author of the United States Declaration of Independence, and the third President of the United States, designed the house himself. It was completed in 1772. The house became a World Heritage Site in 1987.
