The theatre, ruined Roman city of Sabratha, Libya. The Roman city of Sabratha, in Tripolitania, dates from the 1st-3rd centuries AD. The 3rd century theatre is one of the best examples of a Roman theatre in existence. It was extensively restored by Italian archaeologists from the 1920s onwards.
