Burgwallis House in Rotherham was once a fine private residence and was typical of the kind of houses built with the money that the local steel industry created. The house stood on Doncaster Road close to the hospital and has provided prestigious offices for a variety of companies. At the time of the photograph it was occupied by the Road, Transport & General Insurance Co. Many similar houses in the area also became offices.
