Steel 'H' girders being stacked for distribution, Park Gate, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, 1964. The Park Gate Iron and Steel Company was founded in 1823. Park Gate was chosen for the plentiful supply of locally produced coal and its proximity to the local canal sytem. The company produced steel until 1982.
