Légende
Statue of Sir Thomas More, Embankment, London. More (1478-1535) was Henry VIII's Lord Chancellor. He refused to subscribe to the Act of Supremacy which made Henry the head of the English Church. In 1534 More was imprisoned in the Tower of London, and beheaded on a charge of treason the following year. He was canonised in 1935 and in 2000 was made the patron saint of politicians and statesmen. The chapel on the south side of the church was More's private chapel.
