Légende
The Theatre at Miletus, Turkey. The theatre at Miletus, built on a natural hillside, is one of the most important and the most intact theatres in west Anatolia. It was divided into three sections, each consisting of 19 rows, and would have accommodated 25,000 spectators. Construction started in the 4th century BC and the theatre was expanded during the Hellenistic era. In the Roman period it attained its present-day proportions. Miletus was an ancient city on the western coast of Anatolia near the mouth of the Maeander River in ancient Caria.
