Légende
Muslim Crusader passage, Crusader City, Caesarea, Israel. The harbour city of Caesarea was built during the reign of King Herod in the 1st century BC. Saint Peter and Saint Paul passed through Caesarea and Paul was imprisoned here for two years until he was brought to Rome. In 1101 the Frankish army under King Baldwin I conquered Caesarea. The city became the seat of an archbishop and was settled by both Christians and Muslims. Caesarea was fortified three times by the Crusaders and was conquered three times by the Muslims. Among the finds from the Muslim-Crusader period is this passage, roofed by blunt (pointed) arches, that leads to the southeast corner of the site.
