The nymphaeum at Nikopolis, Greece. A nymphaeum was a monument consecrated to the nymphs, especially those of springs. Nikopolis (the 'City of Victory') was an ancient city of Epirus, founded in 31 BC by Octavian in memory of his victory over Antony and Cleopatra at Actium.
