Houston Hall, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, 1953. Vintage postcard showing a bird's eye view of Houston Hall and the surounding grounds. The University of Pennsylvania was founded in 1740, largely due to the efforts of Benjamin Franklin. It moved to its present campus in 1875. Completed in 1896, Houston Hall is the university's student union building. The University of Pennsylvania was the first American university to establish a student's union.
