Milling district, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, 1923. Vintage postcard showing a night view of the Minneapolis milling district on the opposite bank of the frozen Mississippi River. Minneapolis was a centre of flour manufacturing, milling grain from the farms of the Great Plains. By 1905 the city was producing 10 % of the country's flour.
