View of Hamilton escorting their Sicilian majesties on 11th May 1771, to observe the lava flow from the great eruption of Vesuvius , Plate 38 from 'Campi Phlegraei: Observations on the Volcanoes of the Two Sicilies' by Sir William Hamilton (1730-1803) 1776 (w/c on paper). Hamilton was British ambassador to the Court of Naples (1764-1800); Fabris can be seen sketching at the bottom left hand corner of the picture.
