Example of printed Egyptian fabric; from L'Art Arabe d'apres les Monuments de Kaire; pub. 1877 (chromolithograph). from the 14th century; design incorporates pairs of birds, possibly turkeys, arabesques, and floral motifs; now in a Museum in Utrecht, Holland; from L'Art Arabe d'apres les Monuments de Kaire; illustrations of Islamic art, architecture, woodwork, tiling, interiors, furnitute etc.; copied by 19th century designers for carpet and wallpaper design etc. for the West; Émile Prisse d'Avennes (1807-1879) was a French archeologist, Egyptologist, architect and writer of the nineteenth century.
