Statue of Omphale. Roman, after a Greek model of 3rd-2nd century BC. According to Greek mythology, Omphale was a Queen of Lydia. Heracles was commanded by the Delphic Oracle Xenoclea to be a slave to Omphale for a year in punishment for his killing of Iphitus. Found in the collection of The Hermitage, St Petersburg.
